Direct Mail – Postcard Marketing Campaigns.

In the dawn of the digital age, email has quickly turned to pesky spam – and your super amazing product and limited time sales event will drown in a sea of unwanted mail. And very likely never find its way to being opened.

The flip side is that direct mail campaigns are producing higher return. Mailboxes are no longer stuffed with unwanted marketing postcards.

A well designed postcard printed with a quality printer – or even better, an eco-friendly printer – can effectively translate into new business.

What can you do to ensure that your postcard peeks the interest of its recipient?

Eco-friendly Postcards

1. Make sure that your mailing list is as targeted as possible. Print and mail is a large enough investment of your time and resources that you’ll want to narrow your mailing list to individuals most likely to respond.

2. Follow up the first postcard with atleast two more. The best way to capture the attention of potential customers is to print a series of postcards and mail them out each month for a few months.

Repetition of your message is the key to positioning yourself in front of your competitors.

3. Get your message out in a glance. Make sure that the front of your postcard isn’t jammed with information. Have a simple –to the point message. You’ve got a split second before they toss your postcard into the trash.

4. Create a hypothetical problem and solve it. Just because someone isn’t going bald yet, doesn’t mean they haven’t considered it. What problem are you going to solve for them. Make your postcard the hero of the story.

5. Add a promotion that requires the recipient of your postcard to sign up. Once they go online and register, you’ll have another way to track the effectiveness of your email campaign. Ofcourse this is only one barometer. Not everyone will bother signing up. Fear not – keep sending the cards. The payoff happens down the road.

6. Another great way to use postcards for marketing is a simple ‘thank you’ to your clients. You may not have heard from some of them in a while. Stay in their radar by acknowledging their patronage and confidence in you.

7. To simplify your process, choose a quality printer that offers mailing services. Printing and mailing at one facility will reduce your cost as well as reduce the impact on the environment. You postcards will be in better looking shape as well - the less hands that handles them the better!

8. Last but not least, if you print your postcards on recycled paper – make sure to include the recycled and forest friendly logos. It not only encourages the recipient to recycle it, should they dispose of it, but it establishes you a responsible company. That is someone they can feel good about doing business with!
